Homestead Soaps
Indulgent cold pressed soaps inspired by the family homestead at Pollok.
Nature, chemistry and craft.
The homestead is where my Mum grew up and my sisters and I spent many happy weekends. We spent our time playing and exploring in Gran’s flower garden, out and about on wild West coast hills of the farm with Grandpa, or indulging in homemade bread and guava jelly at the big dining table. These soaps are reminiscent of a simpler time where things were made from pure ingredients and life was slower paced and more connected.
Then, there is the simple chemistry of the cold pressed soap process. Lye, plant based oils and fair trade butters are blended to trigger the chemical reaction of saponification. After the reaction and curing phase there is no trace of the lye, just simple, pure nourishing soap which is free from additives and synthetic ingredients. The soaps last longest when kept on a soap dish to help it dry out between uses.
Whether you are looking for invigorating citrus or peppermint, gentle and relaxing lavender and chamomile, or goat's milk for a gentle treat for you or your little one. I encourage you to nourish your skin and take the time to be mindful and present in the simple moments of your day. Slow down, lather, and nourish.
